Nothing’s worse than discovering that your women’s wig is in need of repair! Can you repair it or do you need to send it away for a repair or – even worse – scrap the whole thing and buy a new one? The short answer is that it depends. If half the head has lost its hair (which might indicate poor care), then you might be better off letting a professional deal with it. However, if there are just a few spots missing some strands, you can probably take care of this on your own. Here’s how:

1. Turn the custom wig inside out and place on a manikin head. Take some nylon thread to repair the tare. If you’ve lost netting, you will have to make a patch to fill in the area (you can use a similar net for this).
2. Now, start filling in the thin areas in the front of the lace wig. Use a ventilation needle and holder. Using the bulk hair, start adding the hair one to three strands at a time.
3. If you are right-handed, hold the needle in that hand, insert the needle through the hole and come back up through another hole. Grab the hair in your other hand and hold it in a loop. Put the hair near the needle and pull the loop through just about half an inch. Once the loop is through the hole, slide the needle down and again go back and grab the ends of the hair to pull through the hole to secure.
4. Do this until you reach the desired thickness.
